Call for Papers
On The Asian Political and International Studies Association seeks to bring together scholars working on Asia, and scholars in Asia, through the establishment of academic networks, training programmes, and international congresses. The third international congress of APISA will be held in Delhi from 23 to 25 November 2007 at the developing countries research centre, University of Delhi. The overall theme of the congress is Conceptions of Justice in Asia. Within the broad and flexible rubric of the theme of justice, scholars are invited to present their current research to the wider community of academics, policy makers, and analysts of Asian affairs. The research should address various aspects of the quest for justice: public policy, international relations, global civil society, global justice, international and national non-governmental organizations, humanitarian intervention and aid, Asian conceptions of justice, governance, democracy, pluralism, toleration, secularism, affirmative action, gender, caste, religion, developmental issues such as health, education, shelter, and livelihood, human rights, obligations, punitive justice, civil society and other related themes. The Congress will provide a fine opportunity for scholars working on Asian politics, history, economics, culture, society, religion, foreign policy, and pubic policy, to connect with other like minded scholars, establish academic relationship, exchange ideas, and contribute to the formation of an academic community in Asia. Paper presenters and panel organizers are requested to send the theme of their panel or the title of their paper along with an abstract (approx 500 words) and a short CV to the conference secretariat by email and a hard copy by 16 August 2007. Final papers are due by 1st September. Authors whose papers have been accepted can apply for 50% overseas or domestic air travel subsidy (as the case may be) and subsidized boarding and lodging.
